Fat Burning Foods? | by Mike Gardner
If you like to increase your metabolic rate 8 to 10% naturally you can, but it's not by using a pill or device. It's by eating the fat burning foods we can buy at the local grocery. It seems like every time you turn around there is a new breakthrough pill or device and it's the one that will burn that fat, shed those extra pounds, etc.... If all these pills worked, why is it more people are overweight this year compared to last? Well, the answer was recently discovered in an enzyme that we all have in our bodies. This enzyme is the gatekeeper to fat storage. Working with a food research institute in Washington D.C., scientists discovered an enzyme called Liproprotein Lipase (LPL). This enzyme is controlled by the foods we eat. In short, everything we eat or drink has an affect on our insulin. Certain foods we eat increase our insulin, which promotes the LPL enzyme that promotes fat storage. Other foods we eat burn as energy because they do not promote this enzyme. The key to losing weight is educating yourself on how certain foods respond in your body. Most of us that want to lose weight try calorie restriction diets, depravation or fat counting. None of these diets work for any period of time or any extended period of time. Think about it, how many people do you know that have had long term success with any of these types of diets? Statistics show 249 out of 250 people on calorie restriction diets gain the weight back and usually more within the first two years. Depravation doesn't work either. The more someone says not to do something, the more we want to do it. Fat counting is another form of dieting that people try. Just because it says fat free does not mean it doesn't store as fat. Look at the ingredients. If there are sugars or sweeteners that promote the LPL enzyme, guess what...it will store as fat. You should try to keep your fat intake to 20 to 30% of your total calories. Let's take a look of some foods and how they are utilized in your body. The key is eating foods that burn as energy, which will increase your metabolism and energy. By doing this you will eliminate insulin spikes that can cause rebound tiredness. Also, by eating foods that burn as energy, you can regulate your insulin. That can eliminate low insulin levels that cause false hunger signals. The following are some examples of different foods and their response: -Carrots: promote fat storage -Bananas (ripe): promote fat storage -Rice cakes: promote fat storage -Corn: promote fat storage -Bacon: burns as energy -Cottage Cheese: burns as energy -Cantaloupe: burns as energy It is not a diet - it is an education process that enables you to make better food choices. You can pick out the foods that you enjoy that burn as energy and minimize the foods that promote fat storage. Join the FREE Fitness Club Now for Fat Burning Workouts! Get Instant Access! |
